Inspiration born from the golden patinas of the ancient hilltop towns of Italy and remembered amidst the dusty warmth of a parched New Zealand summer. Where colours lie faded and golden in the late summer sun, summer fruits speak of decadent indulgence and roses dried dusty and aromatic still hold tightly to the scents of the garden.

This piece was created toward the end of summer using flowers dried from the bounty of my spring garden and hung in fragrant dusty bouquets from the ceiling of my studio. With colours entirely redolent of the parched Tuscan hilltowns during the summer heat I was inspired to create an artwork which echoed these ancient villages using Backgrounds which I had shot on my ‘journey of inspiration’.
