When a garden is allowed to go a little bit wild, a window of freedom is created. Nature can bolt out the gate before you know it and what she gives you is the sheer vitality of life.

Colours clash. There is boldness and extravagance and abundance that makes you realise how much beauty there is to witness.

Grandiflora is a celebration of this wild abundance — the garden at full tilt. Those periods of beauty and bounty when nature gives us a glimpse into her world and the power it has over us.

These works bring the seasonal bounty of the garden and orchard into the still life tradition. Flowers and fruit are gathered at their peak and photographed in the studio, then composed within rustic and domestic urban spaces. Weathered walls, worn surfaces and the traces of everyday life give structure to the abundance, allowing the vitality of the natural world to sit within the places we make our own.
